The Nine West Factory Shop is part of the huge global company known as Nine West Holdings. Its core business is to design, manufacture, market, and distribute branded clothing, shoes and, accessories.

Even though Nine West was established in the bustling streets of Manhattan in New York, over the years it has spread its wings into over 70 countries. It took its name from the address where it was started; 9 West Street. South Africa is one of the countries where it has established itself in some of the trendy shopping centres such as the Eastgate Mall, the Fourways Mall, and the Sandton City Shopping Centre.

Nine West has a policy of marketing directly to consumers. This is done using a chain of value-based stores and specialty retail. The retailer has also been given a license by Givenchy to stock the Givenchy costume jewellery.  Shoppers in any Nine West Factory Shop across South Africa can also access the Dockers Brand for women. This is a brand that has a license from Levi Strauss and Company.

Even though Nine West started off as a company that sold just shoes, shoppers walking through their shops can now expect to buy almost anything that a woman needs including, handbags, winter wear, jewellery, luggage, denim, watches, suits, belts, legwear, outdoor wear, and sunglasses among others. According to this retailer, over one hundred million pairs of shoes for women have been bought from their stores. The aim of this global retailer is to ensure that every woman looking for affordable but sexy gear is catered for.

The History Of Nine West

The roots of Nine West date back to the 1970s. This company, which now employs over six thousand people across the globe was established in 1970 by Sidney Kimmel. At this time, Sidney worked as the President of the John Apparel Division. John Apparel was a division of the W.R. Grace & Co.

It was in the year 1975 when Sidney teamed up with Gerald Rubin, who was at the time working as the accountant at Grace & Co, to buy the fashion division of Grace and incorporated it as the Jones Apparel Group. The reason why this company saw a quick expansion has to do with the idea of bringing in some new labels and going out to seek licenses from the big names such as Christian Dior.
