Triumph is one of the world’s leading producers of women’s lingerie and shapewear.
They have a wide product range and an impressive track record of over 125 years in the business. Over the years, the company has developed a reputation for its attention to detail, its technical innovations in the industry, and the quality of its products, which are popular among women from all over the world.
Triumph was founded in 1886 by John Gottfriend Spiesshofer, a skilled weaver and pioneer who developed many new techniques for the manufacturing of garments, and his friend, a merchant named Michel Braun. The pair originally worked out of a small barn in the region of Swabia in southwestern Germany, designing new underwear products for women which were carefully manufactured with the assistance of six dedicated seamstresses.
The corsets they made were originally made from whalebone and silk, which were popular materials for undergarments at the time. The product proved immediately popular among the local market, and in only four years the company’s workforce had grown to 150 people.
Becoming Leaders in the lingerie market
By the turn of the 20th century, the products had changed in accordance with the more relaxed attitude of the time, and so had the company’s name: from ‘Spiesshofer and Braum’ to the simpler and more memorable ‘Triumph’. By the 1930s, Triumph had become the world leader in the lingerie market.
